Sean Miles is a committed Possibilist, deeply driven by what could be. His work is founded on a singular vision: to support the development of people, workplaces, and cultures of tomorrow, today, through the intentional and practical application of science, collaboration and curiosity.
He endeavors to support a world where professional achievement and business excellence are consistently balanced by a positive human experience and deep humanity, leading to a more purposeful and fulfilling life.
For nearly 15 years, Sean has been focused on studying the brain, behavior, and neurotechnology, sparked by his early doctoral ambition to fundamentally change the brain to cultivate better leaders. His approach is a powerful blend of rigorous discipline, combining Eastern contemplative practice with advanced Western science. This includes an academic foundation with an MBA, professional certifications in economic development and management, a sessional faculty instructor in organization behaviour and business, and numerous doctoral subject-matter courses in medical neuroscience, neurobiology, meditation and psychological frameworks.
Sean's expertise is currently showcased through two key initiatives:
MBNR-8 (Mindful-Based Neuroresilience): Sean is the primary author of this framework, which is a structured, 8-week program designed to systematically re-pattern neural pathways. The program utilizes a tri-modal protocol—integrating Focused Attention Meditation, Alpha Peak Frequency (APF) Training, and self-hypnosis—to move beyond simple stress management and proactively build mental resilience and cognitive clarity essential for modern leadership.
Open Monitor Leadership: Sean is currently spearheading the development of this advanced initiative. It is specifically targeted at senior-stage leaders not as an alternate leadership framework, but a fundamental leadership foundation focusing on sophisticated real-time neural application and changes required to sustain peak cognitive and emotional performance at the highest levels of organizational complexity.
Sean’s insights are deeply rooted in real-world success and extensive professional application. Early in his career, he demonstrated his visionary capabilities by successfully launching a multi-million dollar company with just $5,000 in borrowed funds, a testament to his ability to craft a viable plan and communicate a compelling vision to gain critical buy-in.
This entrepreneurial drive complements his extensive background, which includes hands-on experience supporting and navigating challenges across hundreds of organizations through his consulting work. This includes holding leadership positions in diverse sectors such as economic development, post-secondary education, and healthcare. A key to his biggest impacts has been his ability to identify possibility and create a compelling vision, leading to numerous international projects and initiatives including a national indigenous training program, an international economic development and education project in Trinidad—and one project that earned him recognition as Alberta Economic Developer of the Year.
He has spent over six years actively using and experimenting with neurotechnology, achieving a unique perspective where he has witnessed the powerful convergence of science, technology, and the growing social and business demand for profound personal change. Sean leverages this unique perspective to advance the vision of high performance with positive human experience.
